"Gross dumpy dirty old hotel and horrible (really HORRIBLE) hotel staff, incredibly rude and not accommodating for out of town wedding guests who needed to check in early to change clothes and prepare for the wedding. They suggested we change in restrooms! Many rooms were available to check in at 1:00, but the receptionist insisted we pay $20 extra to check in early. Total rip off! What a crummy way for the wedding party to be treated.
The online rate for this hotel was also $100 cheaper per night than the not so “special rate” offered for the block of rooms held for the wedding attendees. Who would pay $250 night for this dump of a hotel!?! As a reminder, this is East Tawas, not Traverse City!
This hotel owner must be crazy and thinks pretty highly of this property. But they’re punching well above their weight class. This is a podunk hole in the wall dump that isn’t nearly as nice as a two star holiday inn. They just happen to be on a beach. But don’t kid yourself, this is not a beach “resort”, this is more like a hotel 8 on a beach. Lipstick on a pig doesn’t make the pig any less of a pig.
On a positive note, the bar staff was great and they were clearly trying so hard to make up for the rest of the horrible experience! The bar staff should be running the entire hotel. At least they understand what it means to be in the SERVICE industry.
Absolutely WILL NOT stay here again and would give this place negative 10 stars if possible. An old DUMP with miserable staff."
