"I recently stayed at Casa Emma, and unfortunately, it did not live up to the photos online. The hotel clearly uses professional pictures that aren’t very realistic—in person, it feels much more basic. To start with the positives, the breakfast was excellent. Every morning there was a fresh spread with fruit, eggs, and arepas, and everything was well-prepared and presented. The room itself was clean, but very minimal. There was no table or nightstand, and the dresser was placed dangerously close to the bed—I almost hit my head a few times getting up, especially at night. The biggest issues were with the utilities. The water never got hot, only lukewarm, and would frequently shut off completely. I had to go to the lobby multiple times to report no water. On our last day, there was no electricity. Without power, there was no AC or running water since it relies on a pump. While they offered another room to brush teeth, it’s not the same as having full access to your own space. For the price I paid, I expected much more. Overall, while it was clean and breakfast was great, the lack of reliable water and electricity made the stay disappointing. I would rate it 2/5 stars."

"I stayed at Mood Matuna for 4 days and it such a home away from home. The staff is not only kind and helpful, they are professional. The hotel has transportation arrangements back and forth from the airport. It is located in a local neighborhood, so it felt like you were living there rather than just visiting while also been literally steps away from all the touristy stuff. The restaurant was delicious and very reasonably priced. The rooms are clean, modern, and definitely have that boutique hotel vibe. I work virtually and they made it very easy to do so, even sending technician to make sure there was an outlet in man area of work. If you want the local vibe plus tourist care hybrid, this is your place. "

"Amazing boutique hotel! Loved everything about it. Staff is very cordial and attentive. They helped us booked several tours and trips to the islands. Sancocho de pescado was exquisite at the hotel restaurant. Everything was delicious and fresh. My kids loved our two story room, the hotel swing and the cookies/drinks available all day. We will definitely be back. Also, centrally located in a safe and quit area. We walked everywhere even the port. "

"I do not recommend Cartagena at all. It’s a tourist trap. Not tourist friendly at all. They will scam you once in the city, street vendors are extremely aggressive even after you say no to them, all prices are much more expensive for tourists, service everywhere is slow, unfriendly locals, horrible infrastructure, the list goes on. It’s unfortunate because the city itself is beautiful but overall experience was a scam. The airport situation was a disaster as well, 2 hr long immigration lines and leaving the gates there were no organization it was a free for all situation to get on board. We had to cut our trip short and went home early. Don’t go! "
