"Save your money and go somewhere else, even the quality of people here is very low. I’m writing this review while still at the resort, with two days left in my stay, and unfortunately, it’s been the worst experience I’ve had at any resort in Mexico. The location is poor and it’s the worst, you can’t get to the beach, because of the seaweed and how the their aide of beach is very dirty, they don’t clean, and the smell is stinky, while most nearby resorts don’t have this issue. What’s worse is the staff’s attitude—many have been outright disrespectful and seem to lack basic hospitality training, and don’t have the basic human rights. You pay too much money to be treated poorly. We were asked to join the Excessive Travelers program, but after the terrible service, we’ve decided against it. Communication has been a major issue; the night manager doesn’t speak English, and the translator was rude, ignoring me completely and speaking only to my husband. We tried to take dessert to our room to enjoy it later. and were told to use the bathroom roll napkins to carry it. We reserved a table at the Italian restaurant to celebrate our wedding, but still waited 45 minutes. When I asked for a window table, I was told to wait another 15 minutes, even though the table stayed empty during our entire dinner. While when we were late for 30m to the Asian restaurant, we were told that we missed our reservation because we were late?! It’s extremely disappointing to be treated this way, especia"

"Really nice place, first day PLS make sure you travel the rest of the resorts and understand all the activities available this will help you plan ur days better. the arcade was not included and a few water activities were additional cost as well. overall the staff were super nice and our stay was very comfortable and relaxing. Reserve your restaurants first day. The buffet definitely felt some days were better than others, if you don’t like the food at one place walk a few minutes to the next resort( that’s what we did lol). Thank you barcelo for a amazing vacation :)"

"We liked it so much that we extended our stay for two nights! Food is diverse and delicious especially for a All Inclusive. Sit down restaurants are very good but you do need to book with time. Staff is so friendly and welcoming! I absolutely love the hotel. Can’t wait to be back next year! I’d have paid for the Premium package if I knew the differences before booking! Is not very clear when you book though Expedia!"

"We recently stayed at Barceló Maya Beach and had a good overall experience. The beach is had seaweed but we walked over to the colonial beach and it was much better, the grounds are well maintained, and there are plenty of activities for children. What really stood out was the exceptional service. A special thank you to Selene at the breakfast buffet, who always greeted us with a smile and made our mornings enjoyable. Ileny at the pool provided outstanding service and was incredibly attentive throughout our stay. We also had a great time with Gabriel from the entertainment team—he brought so much energy and fun to the daily activities! The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that some areas of the hotel feel a bit outdated and could benefit from renovations. However, the excellent staff and beautiful resort amenities more than made up for it. Overall, we had a great vacation and would recommend Barceló Maya Beach to families and anyone looking for a getaway with kids in the Riviera Maya."

"Communication was excellent and friendly. Great location! Easy walk to tennis and restaurants. Very spacious apartment in a lovely villa. A/C worked great. I wish the pool was not murky and the towels were not synthetic. Again the location, the apartment, the staff were wonderful and I really liked the vibrant floral pattern of the sheets."

"I love this little town. Been going there for many years and love the hotel. Staff helpful. There is no elevator for those who need one. We were on the 3rd floor which was fine but if you have issues it could be a problem. As I said I love the little town but they are losing their beach. The sargassum seaweed is a real thing and starts in the early April or so and lasts for a while. All of this saddens me but may not go again as it is not pretty and the staff was working continuously to remove it. In spite of their many efforts it is not pleasant to go in the water either as it is constantly coming in from the sea."
