Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've prepared well. We've compiled a list of handy travel tips that will help get your Bord vacation started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, pack in your passport, important documents, wallet and medications. Next, you'll want some entertainment to while away the time. A thrilling novel and a tablet crammed with your favorite movies are good options. If you intend to catch a few z's, a quality neck pillow and a pair of noise-canceling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, make room for a few toiletry items so you'll touchdown feeling fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp or pointed objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and poisons, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your number one priority is to make yourself as comfortable as you can. Don layers of natural-fiber clothing and bring a jacket in case it gets cold in the cabin. Opt for well-fitting, flat shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell a little during the journey. Leave the stilettos and heavy hiking boots in your luggage.
- Most of us have heard about DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of inactivity. There's plenty you can do to lower your risk. Don a pair of compression socks, drink plenty of water and remember to keep your legs and feet moving. Wander up and down the aisles of the cabin or try out some simple stretches in your seat.
