Depending on where you're coming from, your trip to Caldes could be simple and straightforward or it could drag on forever. We've pulled together some handy tips that will help you start your next great adventure on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a pleasure if you take the right gear. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare set of clothes and a good read. Secondly, make room in your hand luggage for your mobile phone, a charger, any vital medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow as well. Lastly, don't forget to take your passport, travel documents and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like your pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosols and gasoline, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of an aircraft are not the place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and remember to take a cardigan as the temperature can drop inside the cabin during long-haul flights. Flat, slightly roomy shoes are also a good idea.
- The serious condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity. Walking up and down the aisle and doing leg and foot exercises while seated helps to prevent this occurring. Wearing a good-quality pair of compression socks or tights can also help.
