Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've planned ahead. We've compiled a list of handy tips that will get your Dollar escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First, pack in your passport, travel documents, wallet and daily medications. Next, you'll want some entertainment to help pass the time. A juicy novel and a tablet filled with your favorite shows are always good options. If you plan to catch a few z's, a quality neck pillow and a pair of noise-canceling headphones will also be useful. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some facial wipes to ensure you hop off the plane looking fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items can differ between airlines, the general rule of thumb is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, pocket knives, spray paint and fireworks. Sporting equipment like baseball bats, and objects that could injure passengers, such as pepper spray and guns, won't be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft aren't the place for a fashion parade. Dress in comfortable layers and choose shoes that are flat, enclosed and easy to remove.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
