Wherever you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're prepared. Follow these handy tips that will help get your Longa vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Traveling on a plane can be easy if you bring the right things. Firstly, you'll want a few toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a clean pair of socks and a good book. Next, find a spot in your bag for your electronic gadgets, chargers, medications and maybe a neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to take your passport, travel docs and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like your beloved Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and fuels, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- The narrow aisles of your aircraft are not the place for a fashion parade. Layer yourself up with comfortable clothes and remember to bring a sweater as the temperature can drop in the cabin during long-haul flights. Enclosed, flat shoes are always a good idea too.
- Unfortunately, one risk of flying long-haul is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity. To avoid this, make the most of every opportunity to stretch your legs and walk around the cabin. Compression tights and socks are also a great idea to help minimize this risk.
