Depending on where you're coming from, your flight to Newark could be as easy as pie or it could go on forever. We've rounded up some tips that will help you start your next big adventure on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a comfortable experience if you bring the right stuff. First things first, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a clean set of clothes and a magazine or two. Next, find a spot in your hand luggage for your electronic devices, chargers, any medications and maybe a neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, remember to take your passport, travel docs and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Pointed or sharp objects, like your beloved pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and fireworks, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim is to feel as comfortable as possible. Go for a pair of slip-on shoes, dress in loose, natural-fiber clothing and remember to bring a sweater in case you get chilly in the cabin.
- Most travelers have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To lower your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression socks and move your legs and feet often.
