We've got the lowdown on how to make your journey as enjoyable as possible. Follow our tips and tricks and you'll be hightailing it through airport security and exploring Old Crow before you know it. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a stress-free experience if you carry the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a spare change of clothes and a few magazines. Next, find a spot in your bag for your electronic gadgets, chargers, any daily medications and maybe a quality neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to bring your passport, travel papers and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp or pointed objects, like a pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as spray paint, flares and strong acids, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane aren't the place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and choose shoes that are flat, roomy and easy to slip on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
