Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've planned ahead. We've put together a list of handy hints that will get your Sargacal escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having a hassle-free travel experience is to plan ahead. Start with the essentials: passport, travel documents, credit cards and important medications. Next, bring on board items that'll help pass the time, like some electronic devices or a juicy novel. You'll also want to bring your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of headphones. Last but not least, be sure to chuck in toiletries like a toothbrush, deodorant and a clean T-shirt.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items can differ between airlines, the general rule to follow is nothing sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, blades, spray paint and fireworks. Sports equipment like ski poles, and items that could harm passengers, such as firearms and ammunition, are also banned from the cabin.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should always be your prime concern when selecting what to wear during your flight. Consider your choice of footwear with care too, as swollen ankles and feet can be a side effect of flying. Flat, slightly roomy shoes are always a good idea.
- Unfortunately, one risk of long-haul flights is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To prevent this from happening, make the most of every opportunity to stretch your legs and walk around the cabin. Compression socks and tights are also a great idea to help minimize this risk.
