Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well enough. We've made a list of handy tips that will get your Scotts Hill escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having a stress-free travel experience is to pack in advance. First up, the essentials: passport, official ID, bank cards and vital medications. Next, bring items that'll help keep you busy, like your laptop or a thrilling book. It's also a wise idea to pack your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of headphones. Finally, don't forget to chuck in toiletries like a toothbrush, lip balm and a spare change of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp objects, like your trusty pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, chemicals agents and fuels, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your number one priority is to feel as comfortable as possible. Layer yourself up in natural-fiber clothing and bring a cardigan in case it gets chilly in the cabin. Go for a pair of flat, slightly roomy shoes as your feet may swell during the journey. Leave the stilettos and heavy hiking boots in your luggage.
- The condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity. Walking up and down the aisle and doing foot and leg exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this occurring. Wearing a quality pair of compression socks can also help.
