Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you prepare well enough. We've compiled a list of handy hints that will help get your Southampton vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a great experience if you pack the right stuff. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletries, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a fresh change of clothes and a magazine or two. Next, make room in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, medications and maybe a cozy neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to bring your passport, travel docs and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Sharp objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, chemicals agents and fuels, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft are no place for a fashion parade. Layer your clothing and opt for shoes that are closed-toe, flat and easy to take on and off.
- Caused by sustained periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot condition that can affect some passengers during long-haul flights. Reduce the risks by drinking water, keeping your legs moving and wearing compression tights or socks.
