We've pulled together all the info you need to make your flight a stress-free experience. Follow our tips and tricks and you'll be hightailing it through the airport and having a ball in Zzyzx in no time flat. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having an amazing flight experience is to be prepared. Start with the essentials: passport, travel documents, bank cards and any vital medications. Next, bring on board items that'll help keep you entertained, like some electronic devices or a thrilling book. It's also wise to bring your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of earphones. And of course, don't forget to pop in toiletry items like a toothbrush, cleansing wipes and a fresh change of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Sharp objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, bleaching agents and gasoline, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim here is to feel as comfortable as possible. Pick shoes that are easy to slip on and off, dress in loose, breathable clothing and don't forget to bring a jacket in case it gets chilly in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Make a point of walking around the cabin or do some gentle exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
