“Check in was straightforward as I’d already paid. Room was very basic but clean and tidy. Shower, sink and toilet were all clean and there were plenty of towels. The large bed was very comfortable and I slept well. Tea and coffee were provided. All in all, a good stay. Thank you.”

It was evident from the certificates and photos around the place that it had been a hotel & restaurant of note with award winning credentials. “Very comfortable bed, clean room We stayed for 2 nights. At check-in, we did not notice the sign in reception that you need to ask for a room refresh (before noon) We needed clean cups, glasses, tbags, but we asked in the pub on the second day and all were provided. The only downside is there isn’t really anywhere in the bathroom to dry towel on a two night stay, so maybe best to ask for refresh Excellent value for money”

“Enjoyed our stay in a garden room. Although the gardens aren’t totally finished it’s nice to see the progress being made and on a sunny day it’s nice to have direct access. Fantastic meal in the kitchen restaurant. We had dined in prevost on previous occasions but the standard of dishes in the other restaurant was great. Friendly reception when we arrived. Breakfast is fantastic. If you are looking for a night or two to relax in a pretty and period setting then this hotel is recommended.”

“We had a fantastic stay at The Barnsdale, such a beautiful, relaxing and picturesque venue. We enjoyed use of the spa, which is beautifully done, small and intimate. Evening meal in the Brasserie was delicious with fabulous service and breakfast was just as delicious, with lots of choice and was well organised.
