I think some of the reviews I have read have been pretty unfair based on my experience. You're paying less than 40 quid, you're not going to get the Hilton for that. It's a safe, warm place for spending little time in. The welcome was very friendly, informative, time was taken to explain things, and take a breakfast order. I was directed to the free car park and given the wifi code. The property is old but kept warm. The bathroom was absolutely spotless and basic toiletries provided. Towels folded nicely. A microwave was in the room. Kettle, tea, coffee but there was no milk unfortunately. I'm sure if I'd asked I'd have got some immediately.
The pub is incredibly noisy... not somewhere restful. The noise did stop at 12:30am and was silent after however. Breakfast was fresh, and quickly prepared.
The bed wasn't comfortable because the pillow was terrible. Not really much excuse for that I'm afraid... The telly worked fine.
All in all if you take it for what it is, have very little money and don't plan to spend a lot of time in the room then it's perfectly safe and convenient.
