We originally stayed at the Hilton Waikoloa village and were scheduled for 10nights. However upon arrival we were unimpressed and had a depressing feeling due to the run down nature of the hotel. My 5 year old son and I spent a week at the Hilton Grand Vacation resort. For us it was a great decision. With a car, we were two minutes to the Hilton Wailkoloa resort, and had full use of their facilities with free parking. If you plan to park yourself at the Hilton Waikoloa all day,then I can see where that may be a better option for some than the Grand Vacation. I like this hotel location and the environment. I will definitely go back again. However there are a few things that irritated me and left a bad taste to my experience. Majority of the hotel staff were very friendly and nice. It’s just only a handful that I met weren’t that polite or sincere. Management should monitor and observe to correct or replace those staff. Mango Sunset is situated on a hill in a lovely coffee plantation. It’s 15 or 20 minutes from town. The sunsets are amazing and breakfast in the morning with French pressed coffee is delicious! Heidi (host) makes her own sourdough! She and husband Dan are naturals at hospitality.

The grounds and swimming pools are beautiful and located on a bay that is fabulous for snorkeling. We stayed in the Vacation Club part of the hotel; they provide washer/dryer and fridge, as well as recycling bins in our room.

I came here 12 years ago and visited again recently. It's a fantastic resort, and I will be back again. We like the ocean tower for the views and the adult pool for peace and quiet. Walking through the whole resort is very easy, does not take much time, and is very scenic. Facilities are clean and well cared for. We could not have been more pleased with Aston Kona by the Sea. We had Unit 106 which was 2 bed and 2 bath. There was a sofa bed also (a little sloped but livable). The unit was completely perfect for our needs. First, we had a fantastic view of the ocean from our lanai. There were sliding doors in the living room and master bedroom.
