Clayton Hotel Burlington Road

6/10 Okay

"Property’s general condition is above average, well maintained, clean, spacious etc. Breakfast was below average but acceptable. But weak point was the staff! Not to blame all but some of them had really bad behavior. Front desk couldn’t manage to bring a taxi on time despite my many warnings. When I asked concierge, he said “Don’t care, ask someone else!” So terrible people in such a nice hotel!"

Iveagh Garden Hotel

"I travel to Dublin from time to time for work and I will not be staying here again. The Iveagh Garden Hotel is undeniably beautiful. It’s stylish, clean, and in a great location. Unfortunately, my stay had one major flaw that overshadowed everything else. I was not expecting to be placed in a room without AC and walled window with only small light near top. Even though it was only 16°C (61°F) outside, my room sat at a stale 24.5°C (76°F) all night. There was no way to get fresh air. Housekeeping eventually brought me a fan, but only after five hours and two requests. Even then, I barely slept. The room was simply too warm. I know some rooms do have AC, but I wasn’t given any way to guarantee one when booking. Buyer beware: if temperature control or natural light matters to you, make sure you confirm your room type in advance, if you can. Otherwise, skip this hotel. The hotel concierge was fantastic. He was helpful with my bags, recommended a great breakfast spot, and made sure I got to the airport on time."

The Fleet

10/10 Excellent

"The Fleet is located right in the heart of the Temple Bar district. So that means you are in the heart of the day/evening action and do not have to walk far to find top notch pubs, restaurants, street food and a Tesco for your grab/go items including beer and wine. If take the road behind the hotel-it leads you to 2 amazing coffee/snack shops too. The hotel has a great bar/seating area that provides great ambiance to enjoy drinks etc. They offer food in their restaurant (albeit we did not eat there) but spoke to others who did who noted it was good food/value. Our room was a standard hotel room and fit us perfectly (since we are there to be out and about and not in the room!). As mentioned, you are in the heart of the Bar district, which is open/happening until 3am, so depending on where you are located in the hotel, if you have your windows open or not, you can and will hear noise. (this is just a reality of the amazing location and not anything to do with the hotel itself). For us, by the time we got in after long day/fun-filled evening, the noise did not stop us from sleeping with the window open. Truly great spot/value for money! Make sure you go to the Merchants Arch and hear their musicians and get VIP service from Declan at the bar!"

Staycity Aparthotels, Dublin, Mark Street

"3/5 overall. Do not expect a single frill or comfort-related amenity at these hotels. I wouldn’t recommend a long stay despite its name or the fact that they have kitchenettes in the rooms because the room is small and not set up for long term stays. Beds are not super comfortable - you can feel individual coils within the mattress - but sheets seem higher quality. The location of this place is a bit sketchy but I never felt unsafe and it is close to lots of coffee shops and the incomparable “Bread” (must visit!) store next door. The lobby is bright and cheery (if not a bit sterile and “IKEA-like”), room and bathroom were very clean. Bottom line - you get what you pay for and in a city like Dublin with lots of overpriced options, it was good to find a clean, safe hotel within walking distance of every tourist attraction the city had to offer. Recommend this hotel but just know what to expect when you get there!"
