The hotel has an amazing vintage architecture. The building is amazing however it needs a some tlc. The reception ladies are great, they made me feel welcomed specially that it was my first time in Durban. The security guards was really good, very welcoming as well. I had a wonderful stay at the hotel with a nice sea view and it's very quiet, you get to relax.Just wish they could just could take case of the building outside, it really need some work.
They said there’s breakfast than there was no breakfast. It’s a hotel but there’s no microwave in the room which makes no sense if they don’t offer food. The area looks very old inside even the fridge is rusted but on the internet it looked very good. Other people are making noise around 1am loud music
The bathroom was pretty clean though the glass shower door was missing , An extra bath towel would be helpful as there was only one for two people . The room was
comfortable but walls require waterproofing and repainting .The
Carpets in the room requires renewal as these are worned out and obsolete. corridors need to be thoroughly clean and carpets and floors upgraded .
Otherwise it was a pleasant stay overnight
The tv was having no volume only pictures, cold water, no sachets for coffee and sugar, one small towel for bathing. I never experienced such a condition
The room had thin cockroaches which was disgusting.
The whole hotel and room had an old smell.
The hallways did not look clean.

Great staffing but iinfrastructure needs attention
Service was excellent, bed very comgjrtable. De state of de room, passage etc, needs a big overhaul. . Charging ports locations are soo pre cellphone. Conviniences like, bar fridge,at least are a necessity.
The service could improve, the staff members especially at the reception and the dining area need to be more customer oriented. At this point I would not recommend it to anyone until attitudes improve. Maintenance is also needed
Firstly, this place needs total renovations, old furniture, the smell from entrance, even in the room is crazy .
A lot needs to be done , i couldn't even sleep ,the room has a terrible smell ,unbearable,
I booked a room with garden view ,given one facing another dirty building,
Its even scary to stay there ,it doesn't even feel safe .
Highly disappointed,
I had to get water next to the toilet seat
I booked for 2 people, there was only one Towel ,
Beautifulnold hotel but rundown BUT renovations were being done while i was there. This meant the advertised resyltaurant was closed. Was told the coffee shop was open and breakfast was served there, but i didnt use that service. The bar area was also closed, no bottles on the shelves behind the bar and no tables, chairs, etc. My room - bed very comfortable I slept well. The staff also very friendly and helpful. But the floors and tables were sticky, something weird white stuff was leaking from the fridge (which also had rust inside), and the bath gad not been cleaned (dirt rim from previous occupant visible). The bath also had a handheld shower unit which may have worked but because there was no shower curtain or glass door this could not be used at all. Location also awful - the local druggies get their fix in the park across the road, and the nearby corner shop's cashier was in a cage with the till and the bulk of the shop's products, so that says quite a bit about the people in the area. Cant walk anywhere, must either drive or get abtaxi/Uber.
Really disappointed, room was big and spacious but toilet leaked and bathroom was flooded under water.... Only after the second call they attended to it...... And only brought blankets to cover the floor no attempt to fix the problem, closed down the tap of the toilet so we couldn't eve flash the toilet, wat a disappointment and total disaster. This was not expected and certainly not worth my money
This is one of the most over rated properties I have ever found! The images online look good but the reality is this place is a squatters hotel at best and should not be rated with any stars. It's dirty, Stinky, cigarette smelling and garbage smelling. No towels and your basically in filth while there! We didn't even stay! We asked for a refund and told we need to ask Expedia! Luckily it was cheap but a real room in a clean hotel up the street was only 15 Canadian dollars more. Nasty at best should be the title when opening their page and I've been to some nasty places!
It was the worst experience ever, the hotel is so old , can never be a 3 star hotel,
most of the things are broken within the hotel, highly infested with cockroaches...stayed one night only ...didnt even have breakfast, what a waste of money ...wish the hotel could have refunded my money back!!!
The lift was not working, there was roaches in our room, housekeeping never changed our sheets and we stayed the for 3 nights and we were given little towels.
