It’s not just a stay but an experience. The hostess provides a warm and friendly welcome. The stately home is both elegant and homely.

Peace and quiet
Went up north for niece's wedding, booked online and delighted with high quality bed /breakfast. The accommodation was just off the beaten track ,nice and quiet. Breakfast was a full english (local produce)and a variety of cereals . Christine was the perfect host with her two spaniels. Highly recommended.

Beautiful home - not the usual ‘hotel’ feel, more like being a guest in a home. Beautiful house and extensive grounds. Christine was so friendly and helpful. The pot of tea on the patio on arrival was a wonderful touch.

Lovely country house
We had an excellent 2 night stay with Christine at Burnhopeside Hall. The house is charming, the breakfasts are excellent, and the dogs are very friendly. Beautiful gardens and a very convenient spot for Durham, the Sunderland coast, and beyond. Many thanks for the lovely hospitality

Highly recommended
We had a very relaxing two night stay. Food was very good and beautiful surroundings. We had a warm welcome from the owners and would definitely recommend this hotel. Also very dog friendly if you are travelling with your companion.

Perfect in every way
Absolutely wonderful place to stay the best of everything! The breakfast was delicious with home grown meat and eggs. Barney the spaniel was a total delight. Christine so kind in every way, we loved all the rooms.

Absolute treasure of a hotel.
This was absolute 'find'. I stay in hotels regularly as a business traveller, but very rarely do I feel 'spoilt' by getting to stay in such a lovely, well-appointed and superbly run property. Many thanks to Christine for making what I was expecting to be a ‘routine stop over’ into something so much nicer. Your attention to detail and exemplary hosting really are most appreciated.

UK Country accomodation at its best.

Lovely place to stay
Christine was very gracious - we enjoyed the dogs keeping us company!. Breakfast was of very high quality. We were treated to the very large corner room - immaculate as was the bathroom. I was wondering if the large bedroom could have a mirror at the dressing table where the hair dyer could be plugged in? Seeing the deer crossing the lawn was a nice surprise.

A hidden gem
Our stay was short as visiting the local university, but we were meet by Christine and her two lovely dogs on arrival and shown to our room. The room was very comfortable and clean. The room has tea and coffee making etc. Christine kindly booked us a table at the local Italian restaurant, which was delicious. We slept really well in our super king bed. The shower was really good. Breakfast was delicious. Lovely thick bacon, home reared sausages and eggs. Not sure what more I can say, but highly recommend. Would also recommend to friends with dogs, as a great environment for them.

Wonderful 😍
What a special treat. We were made very welcome by Christine and Philip. Not forgetting Barney and Max the 2 lovely dogs! Barney took us on a fabulous walk to the river and insisted on us throwing him twigs... adorable! Peace, quiet, tranquility with beautiful surroundings and atmospheric home. We were given a free upgrade and stayed in the farmhouse. The bathroom was exceptional. The breakfast was wonderful. Thank you so much! We'd love to stay again xx
