"My daughter walked in, went straight to the window, and just stood there. I gave her about thirty seconds before I joined her. El Nido Bay, right there, limestone cliffs in the distance, boats moving across the water. Neither of us said anything for a bit.
The location is the thing. Seventy metres to the beach. Five minutes to the tour loading point. Restaurants and shops literally downstairs. After a full day on the water, walking back to your room in five minutes without needing a tuk-tuk is a bigger deal than it sounds.
Reception helped us plan four days of island hopping. Not one bad day. He knew which tours had fewer crowds, which guides were worth asking for by name, and he never once pushed us toward the expensive option. That kind of honest advice is rarer than it should be.
The rooftop is worth going up for even if you’re not eating. The view of the bay from up there, especially around sunset, is the best free thing the hotel offers. GG the hotel dog usually finds you in the lobby on the way up. She’s very soft and completely unhelpful if you’re trying to be on time for anything.
One thing to know: the hotel is on the main street, so it gets noisy at night. Ear plugs help. Ask for a higher floor if you’re a light sleeper."
