The room was clean. The bed slept perfectly. The owner was so very kind and helpful with places to eat and visit. We enjoyed the stay here better than some of the well known chain motels.
An old 1950's building neat and clean, with a NOSTALGIC atmosphere. The owner Chuck/Charles (I think) was a good character and efficient at check-in.
Overall a good choice.
After 14 years in the coffee industry, I can say the attention to detail on the coffee quality at the Padre was impressive - better than any motel or hotel I've ever stayed. Comfortable beds are also important, and we found the bed was very comfortable.
The room was clean with nice linens and pillows. The microwave and fridge worked perfectly. The toiletries were nice since so many places don't supply those any more.
The location is central to many activities in the area. The proprietor was friendly and extremely helpful.
This is a little gem in a great location - don’t let the old-fashioned appearance deceive you. Just sorry we were only there for one night, because it would be a great home base for exploring the area. We had two small bedrooms and a sitting area for our family of 3, which felt luxurious. Beds were comfortable and the property was spotless. The Keurig coffee maker with real half and half was a real bonus. Best place we’ve stayed on this trip!
Old place, but OK. Old enough that two queen beds meant two separate rooms! We paid extra for that (which typically means an extra bed to unload on) so ended up with a room we didn’t use. It would have been a great option for a party of four who wanted some privacy. Pluses: you park right at your door, and the owner is thoughtful with amenities: extra plug outlets and strategically located night lights.
The name does not do justice to the amenities and services provided by this “boutique hotel”. Charles was extremely helpful in checking us in. He gave us recommendations for places to visit, even printed out the maps. Then we asked for a vegetarian restaurant and not only did he recommend, he even printed out the menu. We went the following morning and had brunch there and it was excellent!
Back to the amenities provided - which “motel” on this planet provides Nespresso Vertuo, high-end toiletries, Damask sheets? This one does. And that’s because Charles maintains it as if it was his home. That is what sets this apart from all other places.
I would give this place 6 stars if I had a way to.
And did I mention about the Mascot? How can anyone not fall in love with his handsome loving cat!
A nice place to stay. Great host, who went out of his way to be helpful.
A large comfortable room. Right in the centre of Escalante, which is a relatively quiet, easy to like town. Close to the grocers and places to eat. Very good coffee in the room and well appointed bathroom. Comfy bed with plenty of pillows.
This is a motel on the main road. Room was good sized. Very basic. Bed was pretty comfortable. About as quiet as you might expect on the main road. Served it's purpose.
