“The staff were welcoming and accommodated a midnight check-in with no issues. The hotel is warm and inviting with modern amenities and well presented especially with origins from the 15th century!! Excellent friendly service and perfect location, right on a main shopping and dining thoroughfare also within a few mins walk to the train station. Highly recommend! ”

“Amazing stay from pre-check-in to check out. Clean room with amenities. We took our dog and they provided a dog bed, towel, water bowl and treats. Perfect bolthole for a stay away. We sat and played games in the snug area of the bar with an open fire for the afternoon. There’s complimentary canapés from 5:30pm and the restaurant had dishes for all dietary requirements. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We will be returning again.”

“As always I was very open minded about staying here, thought it might be overly pretentious but I was very pleasantly surprised, and thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. “Lovely hosts and a very generous cooked breakfast with quality ingredients and big pot of tea plus lots of toast! Room was very spacious and comfortable with a balcony for warmer weather - lovely views to the other side. Decor is somewhat dated and bathroom could do with update but everything scrupulously clean, loads of hot water and everything very comfortable. Could not have asked for more.”

The hotel kindly allowed a later check out with a prompt and polite response to our request. Check in was efficient and simple. The evening meal was superb - great value and the pavlova! Wow!
