Small but quaint 700 year old old castle near my house and was home to a local Frankonian counts and later to the Bavarian dukes, damaged a few times by enemy armies. Now can be visited. Don’t forget to have special desserts down below at the local guesthouse. #Matgothunts

"Excellent hotel! Clean tidy comfortable and well located. I arrived late at night and the lovely lady in reception was kind and helpful. Also explained that due to the hotel being fully booked my room had been upgrade (this was a lovely touch) The room was fab large bathroom and very comfy bed and bedding. The bed was actually made as well. I have found over the years german hotels leave the quilt folded at the bottom of the bed and 2 singles for a double bed. Breakfast was nice althougj did lack bacon and sausages! But the fresh made waffle iron was great, the make your own fruit juice was good as well. Seating was plentiful and staff very attenive. A short walk over (through) the old city wall and you ate very quickly at the altstadt markt "
