"This hotel was a great location for us with walkable access to downtown Funchal (about 30 minute walk). Good restaurants nearby and downtown.
Hotel is up on a hill (about 70 meters of considerable incline), so that was unexpected, but for us did not create an issue. Parking is limited at this property and we were not aware originally that you could reserve the parking ahead of time and for an additional fee (7 euro per day). The staff were very helpful however and offered off site parking to us nearby for the same fee. Again, not a problem for us, but may be an issue for some (150 meters away from the hotel).
Rooms were standard (we did not have a balcony), but this is not a very new property, so there is no air conditioning in the rooms. Good breakfast with good options and fresh bread and buns everyday. The property also offers dinner options on site, but we chose to eat outside of the hotel.
This was a good stay and we were thankful that when our flight got delayed we were able to stay at the hotel and our room for an additional night. The staff was helpful and even provided us with a kettle for our room (we did not bring our own as we came from Canada)."
