"My wife and I traveled to Galena to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary. The weather was perfect for spending a few days there, and the Steamboat House was ideal, thanks to its location, aesthetics, and amenities. We both have gluten allergies, and while I forgot to mention this in our reservation, Carol, the innkeeper, was incredibly helpful in providing gluten-friendly breakfast options, which made our stay feel even more special. The house was beautifully decorated with a fall and Halloween theme, which we both enjoyed as we walked around and took in all the decorations. We highly recommend this place for couples or families seeking a cozy getaway in a historic house just off the main road into downtown Galena. We will for sure be returning in the future for another stay!"

"Our stay was very pleasant and we would return. The person checking us in lacked friendliness. The woman who worked the breakfast was beyond exceptional. Friendly and very helpful! Food options were very satisfying and they had my favorite…..the pancake machine!! Our room was spotless but we think they cleaned the carpet but it didn’t dry before our stay so the room was “damp”. Great location to Adobos (great burritos) and Mexican restaurant and Piggly Wiggly. Across from a Casey’s. So several options in walking distance. Pool and hot tub were both very nice!"

"Staff was very nice and helpful. Checking in and out was easy. It has a beautiful view and the rooms were clean. A few minute drive to Main Street. We will definitely be back."

"Restaurant was excellent. Our waitress was outstanding and food was excellent. Very large portions and quick service. Rooms were clean but very dated. Carpeting in stairwell needed updating. Nice to have fresh coffee available to guests in the lobby."

"Staying in a 170 year old historical mansion has its quirks. For us, we enjoy them. It certainly provides more character than genetically antiseptic chain hotel rooms. The Galena Inn had a few of them. Our quiet in the carriage house was lovely and well appointed. Steps across the property were good for us but may prove a burden to those with mobility issues. The main house is stunning. Antiques are era appropriate. The daily breakfast was excellent the 2 days we had breakfast. The staff is knowledgeable and engaging. We didn’t take advantage of the well stocked and well appointed game room but imagined we might if we stayed longer and/or in the main house. The location was perfect. We had immediate access to the ‘high school steps” which literally take you down to Main Street."

"Far beyond what we anticipated. Warmly greeted and show to our room. Top line toiletries and added touches. Yes our room was small but well appointed and we did not plan to spend much time in the room. Wine and cheese at 5:30. 3-course breakfast at 8:30 am. Amazing! Will be back!"
