"A very good option for a 4-star hotel in Bilbao right near old town. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Highlights include the enormous shower and his and her sinks in the bathroom.
The front desk staff was great. We were in town for the eclipse, and they provided great tips on where to go to see the event, and details about the local weather and what to expect. Checking in and out was smooth, once we figured out where to park; there is a single spot out front that is okay for hotel guests to park short-term in an otherwise restricted area.
There is a Michelin-star restaurant on the top floor where we dined on the second night. The service was excellent and the price fix menu was very good; I thought the starters were much better than the entrees though.
The only real disappointment was the breakfast buffet, which we paid for in advance. The selection was not great, especially with the fruit. The scrambled eggs were incredibly dry the first day, and only slightly better the next. You can special order a few items; I ordered the eggs Benedict on day two and it never came, so I just left instead of trying to order it again. Also, I tried to change the time of our dinner reservation on the second night due to the eclipse. The buffet manager said she made the change, but when we came back for dinner, our name was not even on the reservation list. Fortunately, we were able to be seated anyway.
Overall, very good stay but skip the buffet."
