My booking with Hotel.com on 9/25/23, was for a queen double. My card was debited on 9/25 for $98.79
When we arrived, we were given a single bed, room. (We discovered the error upon opening the room #211 door.) Returning to the desk to have the error corrected, the Desk clerk indicated all rooms were booked. I requested she double check. She came back with another room #207. She processed the change on the computer & asked me to sign in again, confirming the change. At NO time did she indicate there was a "up charge", to change the rooms. It was not until I checked my credit card statement this evening, that I found an additional charge of $7.55 added to my account, by the Hotel 8 clerk on 9/29. This fee should NOT have been charged! I showed the clerk m original booking confirmation, which clearly stated that a double queen had been booked & paid for.
She told me she had no involvement in 3rd party bookings.
