This is a classic quaint, village inn, excellent food, and very comfortable folksy rooms with loft beds. The proprietor and all the staff are super helpful and friendly. A perfect spot to hike directly to the best spots of Hadrians Wall.
We had a lovely stay at this hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is great for visiting Vindolanda and Hadrien's Wall.
The breakfast was excellent and evening meals were also good. I hope to return here.
Excellent room. Had a sauna in the room but would suggest you leave full written instructions on turning it on and off I think some staff were unaware too so never got to use it. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the hotel has z very relaxing feel. Would certainly return
Our stay at the Centre of Britain was very enjoyable - David was the perfect host and all the staff were so helpful and friendly. All our rooms were different and some were amazing - the hotel was spotless, the breakfast delicious and we all thoroughly enjoyed the evening meals we had. The hotel is ideally situated and we were able to easily visit some very lovely places - including obviously Hadrian's Wall
If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would just for the staff!! Anyone we came in contact with were impeccably nice. It was so wonderful meeting them. Their friendliness was very welcoming and warm. Made me feel right at home. They even gave us a take away meal for breakfast because we were leaving prior to breakfast hours.
We were given a lovely little lodge in courtyard with downstairs Tv area & bathroom and a mezzanine upper where the comfiest of beds were situated. The bathroom was beautiful, massive shower cubicle!
The hosts were brilliant, even down to being shown which parts of the building were eldest & a centuries old stone winding staircase that was used by soldiers in the days of fighting over the English Scottish border.
Breakfast was included & was beautiful.
If we’re ever in the area again we’d definitely stay here.
Well we arrived at 4 p/m and were greeted by a friendly staff member who imidiatly told us that the restaurant was shut and we would have to make our own food arrangements!
We settled into our room and I went back to the hotel (we were in an annex ) to ask for some utensils and plates as we were going to get a takeaway only to find that the hotel was shut and all the lights were off ! So we had to buy cutlery and plates from the local store
Breakfast was nice except that my wife had breakfast potatoes that were rock hard?
We we’d stay again but not on a Sunday night if they shut!
They could have informed us and then we cud have planned something else
Great Reception from David.
What a raconteur-made us very welcome.
Quality of Food & Drink options were good.
Breakfast was excellent masterminded by Angela who demonstrated an above average degree of attention to detail.
Slight drawback with poor WiFi
