I recently stayed at the Red Roof Inn in Hardeeville, South Carolina, for one night to attend the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Savannah. Despite the decent reviews, our experience with the hotel was disappointing right from the start.
We had reserved two rooms with a “Reserve Now, Pay Later” option through Expedia. However, we received a call from the hotel owner early in the afternoon prior to check-in, informing us that we had to pay for the rooms sight unseen or risk losing them. This unexpected demand put us in a difficult position, as everything was already booked for the celebration in Savannah.
Upon arrival, we found the rooms to be very outdated and they had a noticeable moldy smell. The breakfast provided was subpar and some items appeared to be undercooked.
Despite these issues, the only positive aspect of our stay was the polite demeanor of the gentleman working at the front desk during both check-in and check-out.
Overall, our experience at the Red Roof Inn in Hardeeville fell short of our expectations. We hope that the management takes steps to address these issues to improve the experience for future guests.
