Our 4th stay in this hotel over the past 20 + years the hotel was built. Common areas were kept clean. The room itself was in poor repair with several torn holes and areas in the carpet, scrapped, scratched up surfaces; the room had no safe, one small closet, only 2 small drawers to put clothes in for 4 people (?) .... in general, required rehabbing. The room & bath floors looked clean, however, our feet turned black from walking around. We had no remote to control TV functions....only one remote to control cable functions. The bed was comfortable, it was nice having a coffee maker & a cool mini refrigerator; there was no ice machine on our floor; one of the side doors accessing the building had a broken lock with tired, old, sun-dried tape all over the keycard reader (it is obviously been in this state of disrepair for quite some time .... just inexcusable). The staff was more than willing to help in any way and we were quite pleased with the housekeeper, personally. All in all, a subpar experience with us stating we didn't think we would choose to stay there again.

The sraff were friendly and professional. The brealfast was quite good with something for most every taste including vegan. There are handicap parking dpots available but building access could be a little task since the main entrance has two sets of doors to get through. The door nest to the handicapped spots has a "thing" attached ti it which didn't have any effect on the door which did not oprn from the outside. The room was well apponted and comfortable. The bathroom, a mobility one meant for wkeelchair access, was completely flooded after a shower. Fine if you are in a wheelchair, but not for anyone who needed to use it on foot. The floor looked as if it had never been washed as there was a trail of dirt from the shower to the drain to the sink. My friend reported mold in the grout. Overall, this was a better than average choice. Other than the minor ussues mentioned, this would be a 5 star review.

Outside looks nice, Breakfast area was fine and the food and beverage was good. The food just needed to be heated up when they first started breakfast in the morning. Room was outdated. Air Conditioner needs to be cleaned very musty. The Shower would only turn on half way, but usable. The tub to shower knob wouldn’t pull all the way up. The sink was partially clogged. The swing bar lock was also broken.

Manager asked for our card after we had paid a month before for our stay. He then charged our account with a $100.00 damage deposit without explaining that to us. It dropped off our account in a week. Room could have been cleaner. Tub was chipped, door did not shut correctly, very, very noisy. Next time we are in Holland, we will look elsewhere.

The beds were reasonably comfortable as were the pillows. I used the window seat for a little bit in the morning sun and found it pleasant. Bathrooms were spacious and navigable in the accessible rooms. Breakfast was solid, with hot and cold elements. Pretty standard biscuits and gravy, egg and cheese mini-omelet, cereals, bagels, etc. Coffee was better than many discount hotel breakfast coffees. All in all, I was reminded of my husband's claim that all he needs in a car is a "driving appliance." This Microtel experience was a perfectly fine "sleeping appliance" and we were able to get some privacy with 2 rooms for a very reasonable total price compared with just one room at many other places along our travel route. There were a few reviews from the days before we stayed that mentioned a smell of sewage. This was NOT an issue when we arrived (there was evidence of thorough carpet cleaning, in the form of several industrial fans set up to dry hallway carpets). It seems to have been handled well. Rooms smelled musty. This improved after running the air conditioner for a little while, but did not entirely disappear. Not sure what can be done about that, but management may wish to attempt something. However, t
