Amanda's Bequest
Very nice place. Good food raised on location. Nice couple, John and Valerie, who are the owners. Great history tying the premises to the Civil War. Excellent choice.

Prepare to eat like royalty!!
Valerie is an amazing chef and John is very personable! We also loved meeting Bobby! Everything was great! My only issue was that the bed was firmer than I like.

Valerie and John have a lovely home surrounded by special outside sitting areas with fablous gardens. The breakfasts are created by a masterful culinary chef. We enjoyed our 2 day visit. Relaxing on cozie porches and good conversations. Location is perfectly close to town. Ask them to give you the history of the town and their unique home.

Breakfast was amazing, and the hosts are the kindest folks. Quiet location just up the hill from Main Street Montague (<5 min drive) and its authentic soda fountain (Lipka's). Great property if you want to stay in and relax for your entire trip, and convenient location if you'd rather a base camp for exploring the coast of Lake Michigan. Will certainly stay again.

Once in a Lifetime
This is not your ordinary b&b. Valerie and John go out of their way to make your stay comfortable with amazing food. Take time to enjoy the porch and outside. The rooms are each beautiful and full of history.

August getaway
The house is an 1870s farm house with nice high ceilings. We stayed in the 1920s porch room which was quite large with a fabulous bathroom. The location was perfect for exploring north or south and close to various state and county beaches. Montague is a cute town and we liked walking on the bike path. Amanda's bequest b&b is definitely a place we will visit again. The hosts, Valerie and John, are so friendly and the food is delicious!

This is a home with endless character. It was our first bed and breakfast experience and it was extremely welcoming. The owners of this historic house, John and Valerie are excellent hosts and very knowledgeable about the home and town that we stayed in. They have a backyard with a short woods trail and quaint commons areas to engage with other guests. Breakfast was delicious and as unique as the home is. A very nice stay.

Super B&B
The breakfast meals were truly amazing. It is a farm fresh feast that always tantalized the taste buds, and left you satisfied well into the afternoon. The day was ended with a nice glass of wine at the back porch gazebo, as the pond water babbled and the chickens let out a soft cluck.

Fabulous Bed and Breakfast
This bed and breakfast was such a fabulous surprise. The food was phenomenal, as were the hosts and accomodations. I didnt want to leave and I really look forward to going back.

Step back into time
We stayed in the 1920's suite, which was spacious, and tastefully decorated with period sporting and musical themed antiques. Very clean and comfortable. Val and John served up a homemade, gourmet breakfast, complete with a history lesson of the residence. This was our first B&B experience, and the bar was set high.

Bed & Breakfast Doesn't Get Any Better Than This!
This was our second stay at Amanda's Bequest and we can't say enough good about it. The house has been creatively converted into charming rooms, each with it's own distinct flavor. And, speaking of flavor... the breakfast was AMAZING! French toast topped with fresh-picked peaches; roasted fresh vegetables; Canadian bacon; eggs from the hens out back; and did I mention their tradition of starting Sunday breakfast with pie?!! Yes, a slice of freshly made coconut creme pie during this stay! Don't miss the unique trail walk through the woods!

highly recommend
Wonderful host and hostess who have thought of and provided for all your needs and comforts. Terrific breakfast with so much variety that you can't possibly go away hungry. The history of this house is truly unique. Very restful surroundings and close enough to town and restaurants. We found out the next morning at breakfast that there were 5 ladies out for a girls weekend staying in the large suite next door that were up late talking and we did not hear a thing in our room.

Extraordinary!
John and Valerie, the proprietors, were simply wonderful. Their B&B is so very unique, it is a destination, not a place just to spend the night. The extraordinary way they raise and prepare all the food is inspiring. We would love to return and take some of their additional cooking classes.

Bed & BEST Breakfast
I really enjoyed my stay here. I rented the 1920's room for a one night stay. The property was charming and still very comfortable. Valerie and John greeted us with homemade apple pie and some cider, and then introduced us to their chickens, ducks and rabbits out back. The breakfast was top notch and Valerie's extra effort for "heritage" cooking really came through. We had pear and strawberry oatmeal, apple and pumpkin muffins, toast with currant jam, roasted asparagus, sliced tomato, picked beets, scrambled eggs with green pepper, coffee and orange juice. It kept me fueled to tackle the adventures of my day. The food is definitely a reason to come, and come back!

Warm and comfortable stay
Valerie and John were really great hosts. They were friendly and attentive, but also gave you space to be on your own. They welcome you like family friends. The room was clean and the bedding was nice and soft.

Unique B&B close to beach and bike trails
We chose Amanda's because it was very close to rails-to-trails biking, and it was. Even better, Amanda's host couple provides wonderful hospitality, great breakfast and special attention to make your stay very special and memorable. As an example, we visited during a very hot week. Bedroom A/C is fine but because the breakfast room is not air conditioned, our hosts moved breakfast to the air conditioned kitchen. We stay at B&B's and Amanda's is top tier!

Friendly Comfort!
We stayed at Amanda’s Bequest on our way to WI and we were surprised and delighted by the décor and comfort of this beautiful little Inn! Our hosts, Valerie and John made us feel like honored guests in their lovely home. We were able to easily visit a Lake Michigan beach and enjoyed a fine dinner on the shores of White Lake. We appreciated a quiet evening of fellowship sitting by the campfire late into the evening before retiring to our very comfortable room. In the morning we were treated to a scrumptious breakfast! Valerie made everything herself and catered to my vegetarian needs as well as my husband’s love of a hearty NON-vegetarian meal. We felt very pampered and special! I highly recommend Amanda’s Bequest Bed and Breakfast in Montague, Michigan!
