I like to start with positives, so check in was friendly and efficient, and the room was tidy. The bathroom was relatively clean but showing some signs of age around the edges, dirty mastic in corners and not sparkling, however hygenically speaking it was fine. The toiletries provided were high quality and plenty for one night.
Sleeping proved difficult for both of us for several reasons, the mattress was tired and lacked much support, the bed frame creaked when moving, we were downstairs and could here people moving upstairs both with footsteps and creaking floor, but by far the worst point was the incredibly bright green light in the room which could not be switched off. I assume it was connected to the emergency lighting, but it certainly made it very difficult to sleep.
After a difficult night we were greeted by the chef for breakfast, who was friendly and cooked a great full breakfast, however for anybody wanting a light breakfast. i.e. toast, jam, yogurt ,pastries etc, they were not there...the only option being porridge.
So to sum up, I would say not a great place to stay considering the cost of £200+ per night...tbh even at £100 I probably wouldnt have stayed because of the light issue and noise....sorry Woolpack
