We liked the unique location in the geothermal river valley and the views from the room. Hot tubs were appropriate for the location and very relaxing. Staff were helpful and the breakfast buffet was good. Dinner in the restaurant was great, with several options that were cooked using the hot springs.
Gorgeous location with geothermal springs, right at the back of town. Appreciated the hot tubs. Excellent food at the restaurant with beautiful views.
The rooms (cabins) and the restaurant are a bit dated, and it wasn’t clear from the advertisement that they were cabin lodging with outside access.
The staff especially Isabella were extremely friendly and accommodating. This is the perfect place to stay to unwind. The hot tub was unreal. Great location and comfortable beds !
Great little quaint hotel nestled on the side of a hill right next to the Varmá River. We had a wonderful stay, it was very quiet and relaxing. We stayed in the budget room, which was perfectly fine for us, but if you want more room, I would definitely upgrade to a larger room. The morning breakfast was excellent before venturing out for the day! Highly recommend this little gem. If you have mobility issues be careful as there is unevenness on the sidewalks in the back leading to the hot tubs.
We had a great stay at this hotel. The room
Was small but very clean. The property was nice and had plenty of amenities, like two hot tubs, a pool, and sauna. Once you see the placement of the hot tubs, you will be drawn to want to use them. The location was perfect for our stay. And the staff was very friendly!
Other than the toilet flush handle falling off in our unit, everything was fine. We only stayed one night. Soaking in that hot tub near the river was nice. I enjoyed the breakfast item -cured arctic char. We felt the dinner was not great - my arctic char fish was not cooked right and my husband's steak was tough, and dry. The front desk young lady with deep voice was very nice and friendly.
I had a fantastic stay here. The location is stunning, quiet, and surrounded by natural beauty. We arrived just before check in began and the host got us into our room early.
The room was pristine, with gorgeous river views and steps away from 2 hot tubs, sauna and a relaxation room. The bed was luxurious, we got the best sleep of our trip here!
The amenities were excellent, with Soley toiletry products, complimentary nespresso pods and even a small back porch where I sat and enjoyed the (rare) Icelandic sun.
The restaurant was great as well, they had the best Madeira steak sauce and mashed potatoes. Breakfast was excellent as well.
If you’re a cat lover, don’t be surprised if you find a friend walk into your room if it’s left open!
Great location, nice large room with a great view of the hillside steam vents and room very clean. Enjoyed the sauna and hot tub. Great dinner and breakfast at the restaurant on property. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Maybe when you live on top of hot springs it’s hard to keep a place looking sharp. The place looks and feels like it needs a good scrub, some dyi handiwork and a fresh coat of paint. The valley the room looks over is “nice”, but not stunning. The hot tubs are a bit rough but a wonderful place to sit after 30 hours of flying. Food was fine. This was our first night of 10 in Iceland so we didn’t know what to expect. It wasn’t the worst but certainly not the best.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the geothermal setting was unique, and breakfast was nice, but this hotel was not what I expected from the website. It is not an upscale boutique hotel, but feels more like a somewhat neglected roadside motel. The rooms are very small and the bathroom was tiny! Like camper or airplane tiny. All the finishes are a bit worn and tired. It has all the basics, but I was disappointed in real life compared to the advertisements and online pictures. Definitely expensive for what you get. The little surrounding town of Hveragerdi was cute and has lots of shops and restaurant options.
Nice stay at Frost and Fire Boutique Hotel. The location is beautiful, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The property has a lot of potential but could use a little TLC and some updates in certain areas. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and appreciated the hotel's unique charm.
