“Much better area of Lahad Datu, compared to town closer to airport. Lots of small shops and a good supermarket below hotel. Area feels relatively safe and we enjoyed the Night Market for dinner (although we were very much a spectacle for locals who are not used to tourists). Hotel itself is reasonably modern, good size bathroom and shower. Beds were OK for comfort and air con worked OK. “Staff are exceptional - friendly, kind, helpful. There's nothing fancy about the place, but nothing fancy is needed, given the surroundings. I especially enjoyed my balcony with the fan. Breakfast is decent and it's only a 20 min walk to the orangutan rehab centre and 5 mins to the rainforest discovery centre.”
