  • On 14 April 2016, a massive earthquake (magnitude 6.2) struck Kumamoto prefecture and damaged numerous structures of the Kumamoto Castle complex including the main castle. Routes and pathways were still open and available for visitors. During our visit, efforts for reconstruction of Kumamoto castle were under way as can be seen in the background of this photo. The Uto Yagura turret (foreground), on the other hand, survived the quake and remains intact.

We are from US. This hotel’s room is simple but it has everything you need and it is very clean! I have stayed in higher star hotels in US and we don’t get the cleanliness and service and we still tipped even when the service at the US hotel was non existent. In Japan, no tipping and we get great service. The free breakfast at Comfort Hotel was good too.

Convent to pedestrian mall, and trams

So easy to get to from the train station on the tram. Use the tram to go to other locations. Room comfortable, in proportion to other Japanese hotels, as expected from descriptions. Breakfast plentiful with a variety of typical Japanese offerings. Great variety of breads. The mall has a variety of stores / very comfortable location for those on foot. WiFi reliable.

周辺に飲食店やお店が多く、立地が最高でした。 部屋はやや古さがあったが普通といったところ、シャワーの水圧は十分、朝食はやや寂しい感じでした。コーヒーがもう少し美味しいと良かったです。 スタッフの皆さんはとても良い対応でした。

Chambre propre et assez grande. Hôtel bien placé, proche d’un arrêt de tramway et surtout du château. Une shotengai à proximité pour le shopping et les restos.

地點非常好，旁邊有大型停車場，票卡給櫃枱可以以一千二百日元停一晚，走路到熊本城不到十分鐘，附近有櫻町購物中心，上通下通銀座通等購物的地方，地點很讚。
