The views were incredible from our hotel balcony! We travelled from Ottawa for our anniversary trip, and stayed at our first ever Auberge and were so pleased with the breathtaking view from our room!

Unique property. Beautiful lookout view. Rooms were facing unobstructed views. We had dinner there and it was very authentic and superb service. Hotel prices are very affordable. Situated in convenient location for near by town, stores. Prices for dinner at restaurant were upscale though but very authentic food with nice views. Hotel beds were very comfy and had nespresso coffee machines inside the rooms.

We had a very pleasant stay here! Although an older building, it had its charms. We stayed only one night but we had a great view of the harbour/waterfront and a nice little balcony. It was very close to center of town, and had a very good restaurant - we had a fantastic, delicious gourmet meal & great wine to go with it. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows weren't great. We would stay here again.

What a view

Stunning view of the Saint-Lawrence seaway from high up. Very friendly and helpful staff. The interior of the room could use an upgrade. Bed comfortable, good linens and nice towels. Great location close to restaurants and the center of town.

Grounds are very nice, room is comfortable, food is excellent. Rooms are outdated. At least the carpet should be removed to make it better. Old receptionist was rude with a few guests and even once with me for no reason. A receptionist should be welcoming, patient, and helpful.

We had a very nice and comfortable ground floor room with a small outdoor patio with table and chairs with beautiful views overlooking the river. Loved the old world charm of the lobby and dining room and the carved wooded ducks throughout the property. We had not thought to make dinner (or breakfast) reservations when booking, and in fact had chosen the hotel because we were on a road trip and it had in-house dining. However, we arrived at 5:30 just as 2 large bus loads of tourists were checking in, and were initially told that the dining room was fully booked. But upon checking, they were able to give us an 8:30 reservation. Much later than we would have liked, but we were too tired to get back in the car to seek out somewhere else and were really looking forward to the hotel dining room having read many good reviews. It was worth the wait as our dinner was superb. Tough getting a breakfast reservation as well, but we did get in at the opening time of 7:00 a.m. and enjoyed a very good breakfast as well. Would recommend this hotel, but do make meal reservations well in advance of arrival!

We stayed 4 nights at the Auberge in La Malbaie and I’m convinced it’s the best choice in the area. Auberge is an old timey word meaning hostel or residence. This is not a shiny new boutique hotel. It’s a well-run quaint older hotel with a variety of rooms and an excellent French restaurant. I recommend the rooms directly above the reception area which have plush beds, wood burning fireplaces, large bathtubs, and balconies with incredible views of the St Laurence. We stayed in room 116. Stay here for its proximity to the water and the restaurant district within walking distance: just over 1km. I don’t know how to say it other than the vibe is amazing; you’re perched on a hill with sweeping views of the water and the nearby hills. Plenty of places to sit and read outside. And the pool is perfect: clean, good temps and long enough to do laps. Clientele seems mostly older Québécois folks, however there are no elevators so be prepared to climb stairs and a steep hill from the parking lot.
