"This hotel was great to stay in. The room was very spacious with tatami mats and two areas to sit down and relax/work on computer including a nice couch with a table and desk with a chair. The bed was very comfortable, the restaurant was delicious, and the spa was amazing. I had a great stay here."

"It's an older hotel that has a new owner and new name. The rooms are basic but clean and nice. Close to the main hot spring area and shopping lanes thanks to a back entrance. No early check in but the rooms were ready right at 3pm. "

"Hotel is a traditional Japanese Ryokan and the setting is very relaxing. The best feature to us is the free private bath, to some who are shy to use the public bath, this is a very nice feature to enjoy the hot spring without stress. Hotel also offers a shuttle bus from Kaurizawa station directly to the hotel , which is a very convenient option for those who travel by train."

"Absolutely unique experience. If you want a fancy western style hotel, don’t stay here. If you want to have a genuinely Japanese experience, in an absolutely stunning area with some of the best snow I have seen in my lifetime, then add Kumanoyo to your list. Personally, I loved this place. "

"I had the best shower and bath of my life there, there's a lot of water pressure and very hot, next to the shower is the onsen bath open all night. The staff was a friendly and attentive the installations are beautiful. They Give you are Yukata that you can wear around town to get into the onsens. I made a reservation for the Japanese style breakfast and it was delicious they serve you Tamago Onsen.

"Very accommodating. Explained how the stay would function given it is a ryokan and not a typical hotel. Onsen facilities were beautiful and well kept. Staff is extremely friendly and personable. "

"Wonderful hospitality, with a historic, step back in time feel. The most kind host who runs the ryokan as the 3rd descendant of the family - it was begun by his grandfather. The property is dated with rough edges but it is a great option at a good price.
The town is a sleepy but the few small restaurants we found were so good and cozy. The public hot baths by the train station were very nice and the neighboring town has a public onsen that can be accessed for a fee (it is one of the 9 the...

"I had a wonderful stay at Urakusatsu Tou in Kusatsu, Japan. The hotel is very clean, and the room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the check-in process was smooth and efficient. The onsen was well-maintained, offering a peaceful and relaxing environment — a perfect way to unwind after exploring Kusatsu. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the area!"
"Well run resort. The hotel staff were great. We had half board and both the dinner and breakfast buffets were excellent. Be sure to enjoy the big baths at the hotel. The inside bath has the sulfury water from the main town source in front the hotel. Inside are 3 tubs of different temps. My son and I both liked the middle bath it was “just right”. Be sure not to miss the outdoor bath. It has onsen water from a different source and has a lower sulfur content. The town is really fun and there is even a public onsen stream you can dunk your feet in while waiting to check in to the hotel. "
"Me and my family had a lovley stay here, however I so have one complaint. The inages showed the hotel being right next to the yubatake place, but it was actually a bit of a walk from there. They sid provide a "
