“We had a comfortable room with a patio overlooking the Douro River. Staff very friendly. The only negative from our point of view was the window from the shower into the room. The botton 2/3 rds are translucent and upper 1/3 clear. If a light is turned on in bathroom bedroom is lit up as well . Also the obvious privacy issues. Other than the the room , hotel , staff, bar and restaurant are great.”

“This is a beautiful property! Definitely a place to use as a base when exploring the Douro Valley and also a wonderful place to take time to relax. The rooms are well-appointed. Our outside guest room had a veranda and chairs overlooking a fountain, pool and the Douro River. The landscaping and plantings are very nice. We had an easy walk to numerous restaurants for dinner. The included breakfast was all we could wish for. The host was very gracious. We really enjoyed our stay here.”

“Very good deal, breakfirst included. The hotel is walkable from Regua. There is another one bed, ideal for family with one kid. Room id very clean insideout, the staff is friendly. Only thing to mention, check in is strict, but there is locker for luggage storage. I am very happy with everything.”

“Not a typical layout for hotel as rooms are located around the property, but this just adds to the wonderful setting. Parking was easy, location to town is walkable if you want...about a mile, but nice and safe. The views are outstanding, even from my standard room. Dinner and breakfast was both wonderful. Pinhao is a simple town, a little gritty, but in a "time forgot" kind of way, not at all unsafe. Plenty of boat options from town. Several simple restaurant options as well, plus great...

“We are a family of 5 with 3 kids under 12. We visited in March and it was very quiet/serene. Portovella has a beautiful view of the Douro. Riverside walk is just several steps down a hill. Photos don’t do it justice because it is so breathtaking in person. The comfort suite was the perfect size with 2 bathroom ensuites and a powder room. View from the suite was incredible. Just plan ahead if you’re staying on a Sunday as many restaurants were closed but we found a gem in Cinfaes - Sabores e...

“Tout le personnel fut d'une gentillesse à faire pâlir les grands hôtels. La chambre était grande, moderne et tres fonctionnelle. La propriété est immense et superbement entretenue. Le petit déjeuner ? Un délice sur toute la ligne avec un bon choix de pain, gâteaux, fromage, charcuteries et biens d'autres choses. Nous recommandons sans hésitation cet établissement. ”
