I must rank "terrible" for my stay at Crompton because my first night there was not in Crompton GH, but forcibly relocated to a run-down room inside an unlisted and probably unlicensed place about 100 m away from Crompton. Our room is not accessible through the main door of the house, but through a narrow smelly lane (about 30 m long, 1 m wide) which is filled with pigeons’ dung and flies the size of ten pence coins! The gate, though "locked", can be easily opened without key. The premises which I was put up is not listed because there is no sign indicating that it is a guest house; it is very likely an unlicensed place and must not be used for any commercial purpose, particularly as guest house for obvious safety reason.
Inside our room, nothing is right: broken hair dryer, beds with coffee stains, cushions with stains, cutlery with food stains, moulds on walls, kid's writings on walls, failed lighting in toilet, noisy aircon, noise from the tube track right next to our room, grease and stains all over the stoves, the microwave and exhaust fan, half broken toilet door, spiders crawling around the bedding, etc. We refused to accept it, but was told by the proprietor that no room was available at Crompton in the first 2 nights of our stay! We asked for refund, but turned down rudely by proprietor who scolded at me in front of my teenager daughter for seeking help from Expedia.com.The way Crompton Guest House handled my case is disgraced London and Hounslow.
