The rooms are basic but sufficient. There are shared bathrooms at one end of the hall and are self-contained units; each having a sink, toilet and shower. There are washers and dryers available at no cost but you need to supply your own detergent. The food is limited in choice but is good comfort food and is reasonably priced. The hotel is located about a 1/2 hour walk from downtown Longyearbyen.

The rooms are small, but the common area has ample seating and is very welcoming. The cleanliness of the bathrooms and hallways depends highly on the other guests. On the outskirts of town so a hefty walk down (and especially back up) to the main shops and museums and gallery.

What a wonderful hotel. Clean and well appointed and the location is wonderful. Having stayed at a mainstream hotel in Copenhagen the night before for 5 times the price I was pleasantly surprised and would chose Coal Miners Cabins over other hotels for cleanliness and great service all at a fantastic price.

Friendly welcome. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Accommodation was comfortable and very warm. Bar area was a great place to relax and play some games with my 6year old. Dinner was tasty. Breakfast was good. Enough choice for our family. Great value accommodation.

The hotel states "airport shuttle" as part of the booking but know you will need to pay for the city bus that stops at the hotel. It's definitely a walk to downtown, and with luggage, a taxi or bus is very highly recommended. Other than that, the rooms were nice and it was an affordable option if you don't mind being somewhat secluded from the other parts of town. Breakfast included was a nice amenity!

We stayed 3 nights in a family room which has 3 beds. Room is spacious and clean. Reception staff is nice and friendly. Buffet breakfast is included, won't be too many choices but considering this is in arctic circle that resources don't come easy. Surprisingly it is not noisy, as contrary to my expectation that wooden cabin has thin walls. Bus to airport starts from the reception area, so very convenient.

I didn't mind the 20 minute walk into town, as I was hiking most of the day and the bulk of the shops were closed by the time I finished anyway. Superb breakfast, very helpful staff, free washers and dryers, and a very usable common kitchen facility for those who might want to cook. I would definitely stay there again.

We were pleasantly surprised. Spacious rooms, only waited for the bathroom once in the 4 nights we stayed. The staff were very nice and helpful. The common area/bar/restaurant area was very comfortable. Roughly a 2.5 km walk into town. We would definitely stay here again

Coal Miner's cabins have a great staff, a really perfect continental breakfast, a nice walk into the main part of town. So it's a little bit more quiet and relaxed. And was affordable and just perfect!
