On arrival we were really pleased with the hotel setting, appearance, amount of parking and friendliness of the check in staff. The room was clean and a good size although lacking slightly in shelf/worktop/storage space, this wasn’t a major issue.
Breakfast was great. The food and staff were lovely. It would be helpful for there to be a sign telling guests to seat themselves, save them standing around when they arrive.
Unfortunately the room was incredibly noisy and prevented us getting the good nights sleep we had booked it for. My daughter ended up sleeping with her AirPods in trying to drown out the noise. Our room was just by the function room and “public”toilets and both evenings we were disturbed by guests coming in and out of the room and doors banging, making ours rattle. The second night was even worse than the first with music and guest noise until the early hours.
We were woken early in the morning by staff going in and out of the building.
I believe we were very unlucky to be assigned a room so close to an entrance to the building and the function room, without being a guest of the events. Our stay would have been wonderful I’m sure if we had stayed the other end of the hotel. It would be much better for the rooms in this location to be assigned to guests attending these events rather than those trying to have a quiet weekend away.
I was initially thinking this would be a great base next time we visit the area. Now I’m not so sure.
