"This was my second stay at this property. My previous stay was with the former owners of No 5 East and it is lovely to see this 126 year old home being renovated/spruced up. This property is so convenient to downtown Winnipeg and is in a lovely residential area backing on the river. There are generous included amenities and having areas outside of the room (lounge areas on the main and second floors) are great to enjoy the home. The included continental breakfast includes a good variety of items and my food allergies were accommodated. No 5 East is definiately not a standard accommodation and I enjoy the charm of these old properties. Everything was very clean (I'd even walk in this house in my socks). Makes you feel really at home."

"Rooms were fine and location was okay. It's quite convenient if you're arriving or departing by VIA Rail, as Union Station is just a block or two away. The breakfast is a bit hit and miss but overall pretty good. Cereals, yogurt, canned fruit cocktail and plenty of bread options including English muffins. There are hot choices each morning but only two, which leads to some odd combinations. One morning the hot breakfast options consisted of just hashbrowns and bacon -- no eggs. The next day it was tiny pancakes with sausages. The eggs made an appearance the third day in the form of a nice little omelette with ham slices as the second hot option. On the fourth day there were egg patties and sausage patties but the cold cereals had disappeared from the buffet. So it can be slightly erratic. "

"we were initially put into their worst room im sure. it had torn curtains, dirty floors, workmen tools in the bathroom and wood dust even on the toilet seat, dusty shoe prints on the seat bench, peeled desk-chair, dried spill marks on furniture, gum on sofa... it was unbelievable! i was so upset. My husband spoke with them and they instantly apologized and gave us a very clean room with none of the problems. i felt very disrespected and profiled (I am African-Canadian). "
