Boutique Hotel Kon Tiki Tahiti

"We only stayed one night at Kon Tiki Hotel after arriving on an evening flight from SFO. Nevertheless it made a big impression! It is a pleasant little place with very welcoming and accomodating staff. The location is ideal - close to PPT, right across the street from the ferry terminal and an easy walk to the market, ATMs, waterfront, shops, and the pearl museum. The attached cafe is delightful. The room was quite large and comfortable, so a pleasant place to recover from international travel. We actually went back on our last day before departing back to the US as we had several hours between flights (tip - use the daylockers at PPT to stash luggage between flights). Enjoyed the cool cafe and free wifi for a respite from the afternoon sun; and the hotel staff called us a cab and let us wait in the lobby so we could do more exploring even though we weren't guests that day. This is just a very pratical and pleasant gem of a place; definitely recommend as a base for exploration or further travel."

"This is a great property if you wish to explore the south side of the island, or if you have your own vehicle. Unfortunately it is NOT 2.5 miles from the airport or the cruise ship port. It is on the opposite side of the island, Depending on traffic, a 90 - 150 minute drive. $115 taxi drive. You can get a 3 day tourist bus pass for 1 franc (a bus ride is 4 francs) but the busses stop running at 4:00 local time. The closest grocery store (outstanding selection of fresh fruit & veggies, meats, and baked goods) or restaurant is 2.5 kilometers from Punatea Village. I would stay there again, but only if I had a rental vehicle."

"Pretty resort recently reopened south of the airport. Rooms are adequate with comfortable beds and good AC. Food there is very expensive and not too many walkable choices to eat nearby. Pool has sand entry. Staff is nice and helpful. Not really a swimable beach area - lagoon surrounds the over the water bungalows."

Villa Mitirapa

"Overall a nice place to stay with a few caveats. Easy check-in with the keys on the counter and quick response by email. We stayed in Aura where two rooms have AC and one does not - was not a problem for our stay. The third room has a fan. The rooms have plenty of open shelf space for clothes.The deck overlooking the lagoon and private pool were favorites. There was a nice breeze during our stay. Bring bug spray though (as with most places on island). It would have been nice to have hand towels and wash clothes, not just bath and beach towels. Also, some hooks in the bedroom to hang up towels or clothes. The shower has body wash and shampoo; some shelves for personal washing supplies would be helpful. There was a lot of roof noise one particular night from what we think were birds collecting seeds from the tree overhead. Our neighbors didn't have the same foilage so this may be specific to our Villa. It bothered some of us more than others, so if you are a light sleeper, the islands of Tahiti in general can be noisy with dogs, roosters and other wildlife. The WiFi worked well but we had to request the password. This proved difficulty since we had spotty personal service. There were chocolates left for us at check-in which was a nice welcome. Thank you for sharing your Villa with us."

"This place is magical. Beautifully landscaped, the decor and layout is inviting and original. The owner, Martine, was incredibly helpful with any needs we had, full of tips on what to do and proud to share her knowledge of the place. It is a tranquil oasis, interrupted only by the clucking of roaming chickens and roosters. Perfect for a relaxing get away in paradise."
