Arrive early morning during low tide to be able to enjoy the Whale tail beach

Popular places to visit

Locals use the waterfall like a slide! And jump off the sides, or course. Throw a couple bucks to the little store for using their stairs or try your luck at just climbing down on your own. Two pools.

As we entered Domincal - we pulled off the road, parked in some sandy makeshift lot and followed the setting sun to the sea. Surfers were wrapping up their session as we sat and celebrated the end of the day on washed-up log on the shore.

We were at the end of our Panama/Costa Rica trip and had actually just decided to cut it short because I was starting to feel sick. But we had this last hike to try out and I was just hoping both that I would feel well enough and also that our car would be able to make it back on the very steep gravel road back from the parking spot (after almost getting stuck around Monteverde earlier on the trip). As we’ve been getting used to we were first to arrive so we had this awesome place completely to ourselves for a little while in the morning before other tourists started to drop in. It really felt like a fairytale.
