I travel extensively to Mexico City for business (sometimes twice a month) and have stayed at most brand name and boutique hotels in the Polanco, Condesa, and Colonia Roma neighborhoods. Since I travel there so often I like to stay at different places to get to know the city better and to avoid monotony. Of all the places I have stayed at, Alexander Hotel has the nicest and best appointed rooms in the city - the Ritz Carlton being a close second. The hotel also has a great gym, a vey nice lobby/bar area, and is walking distance from multiple restaurants and coffee shops. Another good thing, is that the hotel is new and is not well known, a such the occupation has been low the three times I have stayed there. Staff is great and tries very hard to provide high quality service.
So those of you that read my reviews know I travel for a living, and I work in the hotel industry…
This may be my new favourite hotel. I could write a book on this property and how it is the absolute model of how to design, build and operate a luxury hotel. So firstly, good luck finding it, this place is SO exclusive there’s no name on the building and you have to hunt it out, it’s worth the trouble.
The bar / restaurant - beautiful, epic team that literally nothing is too much trouble for, they make you want to order something ridiculous just to see if they’d actually make it happen for you!
Next - the suite itself, No detail has been spared, no touch missed, no thought left hanging, this is potentially one of the most beautifully appointed hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. I’ve build a dozen hotels that cost triple the ADR of this one, they aren’t a patch!. The bathroom and wardrobing architecture (and it is architecture, so much more than just furniture / fittings) is simply stunning, so stunning I fully intend to replicate it in my new house 😂.
The gym - compact but we did a full 90min power lifting workout in it and again I fully intend to put this gym setup in my actual home.
Lastly house keeping and front of house team. Outstanding, some of the best in the industry.
This small hotel is beyond words. I asked how, given the ADR and the quality how it’s making a profit - the answer was simple, the owners are rich, wanted the best, and they don’t care. They won!
