"Our room was on 4th floor. Two single beds in room. Thankful there was a desk fan in situ as was so very hot during our stay. Room was small but adequate for our needs and as it was only for one night it didn’t feel like we had no space. The bathroom, although quite dated, was very clean and tidy. The shower was set via the taps which did get bit tricky. Was just at temp I liked then as I was washing my hair, it went quite cold, which under the circumstances and how hot it was, it was quite refreshing, but had the outside been a cooler season it wouldn’t have been taken quite so kindly. The shower head was only small but pressure was very good. The shower was over bathtub & Shower curtains are something I thought had gone well out of date but they were lovely white clean new looking so no big issue.
We didn’t eat In Hotel but went to a Chinese all you can eat just a short walk away ( Slowboat) where everything is cooked to order and was absolutely gorgeous food, so pleased we went there.
The breakfast within the Mill Hotel was adequate.
The situation of the Hotel is great for walking into the centre, along the canal.
The only downside for us was that there was no fridge in room, which would have been very welcome considering the weather, as we couldn’t keep any drinks cold in room, but despite this we would definitely not hesitate to stay at The Mill again."
"Some like the uniformity of a Hotel chain, I prefer to take a risk on something quirky and Peckforton Castle did not disappoint! Perched on the top of hill surrounded by a forest, from the Gatehouse into the courtyard this was stunning and a fabulous place to rest for a night. My bedroom was in a tower and although small it was charming and themed around Alice ( see pic ) The restaurant was pleasant although I chose to eat outside as - well, why wouldn't you? And wandering around the Great Hall and wine cellar ( now a bar ) gave me an appetite for well cooked food and great service. I slept really well ( unusual for me ) and woke to a proper breakfast, freshly cooked and served at table... Old fashioned service but made the stay! I will be back, my wife is not amused that she didn't get to share the memorable experience."
"My plans changed and I got to experience the Indian Cuisine. I can say it was the best curry I’d had in ages.
I found the room perfectly adequate (once I’d located the light switch for the bathroom!) the door to the car park was novel and useful.
Thank you for a comfortable stay and the excellent food!"
"Easy check-in with friendly staff. Courtyard room was very nice. Bar is “OK” but the excellent barman made having a drink there a pleasure. Wide choice for breakfast."
"Lovely place to stay and friendly host . We had a fantastic room with a free standing bath in it as well as a separate shower room. I will be coming back again one day ."
"Lovely hotel with friendly staff, excellent facilities, the vines restaurant was a real treat and a big bonus the we didn’t have to pay to use the spa as the leisure centre had a steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and pool that was free for hotel guests to use."
