  • Quite amazing to see this cemetery. Milan's wealthy families seemed to try and top each other by building large tombs often decorated with plenty of sculptures of angels, putti, sphinx or other figures. All kind of architectural styles were used, from Egyptian, neo-Roman and Byzantine over neo-Gothic to more modern styles such as Art Nouveau, modernist and even post-modern. The sheer number of different works of art by often highly acclaimed artists resulted in an interesting open air museum, where visitors are easily overwhelmed by the large number of monumental mausoleums and sculptures. Fortunately placards installed on the grounds of the cemetery that show an overview of the most spectacular and most famous graves.

The hotel is a short walk from the Porta Garibaldi train station,the Piazza Gae Aulenti complex, and the Bibloteca degli Alberi. It is convenient to public transport and it is a short ride to the Duomo and Milano Centrale. The breakfast was pleasant and the staff people are friendly. It is an old building with small rooms, but clean and comfortable.

Fun hotel in great location

Hotel was clean, comfortable, close to fun restaurants in Chinatown. Trams to the duomo and castle areas stop right in front of the hotel.

Great historic building from 1900’s with charm and a great breakfast! They make cappuccinos for you in the morning!! It is close to the train station and walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants.

For a central area hotel in Milan surrounded by Metro transportation near their door it was amazingly quiet at night. Nicely done decor and breakfast. Professional staff and cleanliness. Desk staff were especially helpful in directions to nearby venues.

Back in Milano

This was our second stay at the San Guido. We stayed there in 2018 and loved the friendliness and the oldie worldly charm. The receptionist/manager was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were great with a very large selection to choose from.

This hotel was charming and perfectly situated for our visit. Staff was lovely and very helpful. We were offered a sitting map and got a very thorough introduction places within the city that would be of interest and how all of the trains work. I am so glad I found this gem on the border of Chinatown. Easy walking distance too many points of interest. Also easy access to Metro.

Great transport options

The hotel was very central, and had good connection to both the metro and the tram. Along the street, there were also many good restaurants, and food options. Hotel itself was nice, super friendly staff who were super helpful during checkin and breakfast. The room was surprisingly big, and very clean. Solid hotel.

Nice hotel! Good location to see the main attractions in Milan. Staff was nice and the breakfast was pretty good. Rooms had air conditioning. The rooms smelled like cleaning products which I didn’t mind but it could be bothersome to people with sensitivities.
