The staff was fantastic and soo friendly! Our son came home saying he made new friends because they were all so kind. The food was great and the hospitality of the family who had their reunion to make my Mom's birthday special was something we'll cherish for a long time! We had the best time and hope to come back soon!

Our family was on a 10-day road trip from Texas to California, and this was our last stop on the way home—by far our favorite of the entire trip! Traveling with our 3 kids and a pup, there was truly something for everyone. We loved the rich history paired with modern conveniences. The unique wildlife on the beautiful grounds made it even more special. Lisa is the heart of the place, and our 5-year-old adored Roman. You have to try the amazing onsite food. Overall—just wow. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Lisa who works the front desk is such an amazing Lady! Rooms were super clean! The food that was prepared by Fabian and served in Chuckwagon dining room was absolutely delicious! This last Friday we were celebrating a birthday and between Lisa and Fabian they set us up in a private dining room! Meant the world to us ! We will definitely be returning! Not because of the ranch, because of Lisa and Fabian!

Amazing, beautiful place!

Our family has traveled around the world, visiting more than 15 countries. But WOW! This place was our favorite by far! The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. The exotic animals are a real treat to see! Be sure to go on the “safari.” It’s worth the cost! We will definitely be back!

We had an incredible stay at YO Ranch—truly a one-of-a-kind experience that exceeded all expectations. What stood out the most was the hospitality. The staff made us feel less like guests and more like we were visiting family. Llisa, the front desk manager, personally gave us a tour and welcomed us in such a warm and genuine way—it really set the tone for the entire stay. Our cabin was beautiful and full of character, with a rich sense of history that made the experience feel even more special. The property itself is amazing—we were able to see exotic wildlife up close, including zebras and even a giraffe, which was unforgettable for the whole family. The pool area was fantastic—super relaxing—and in the evening they lit a fire and had s’mores, which was a perfect touch. The food at the Chuck Wagon was excellent and gave us a true ranch-style dining experience. Chef Luis was outstanding—not only was the food great, but he shared fascinating stories about the ranch’s 100+ year history that made the experience even more meaningful. We also loved exploring the property. Taking a UTV out on the trails allowed us to see even more wildlife—ostriches, buffalo, wildebeest, rams, elk, deer, and more. It really felt like an adventure every time we went out. One of the most memorable moments was the sunset by the tipis—it was absolutely jaw-dropping and something we’ll never forget. We will definitely be back and will be bringing friends and family to share this amazing place.

Older property, but well kept. Staff is very friendly. Game watching tour was excellent, saw lots and lots of native and exotic game. Road are paved and easily travelled. You can see a lot of game by simply riding the paved roads slowly. Beautiful new pool. Great sightseeing. Good hearty meals.

Perfect place to live in the moment

If you are looking for a unique getaway or vacation, don't hesitate to visit Y.O. Ranch. We sought out a place to stay to experience the beauty of a "dark sky" - unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and it was completely overcast the weekend of our stay. However, we still had an amazing time in the natural beauty of Central Texas. The Sam Houston cabin was perfect for our family (including two teenage boys); clean, spacious with comfortable beds. Most of our time was spent either in the nearby grounds enjoying the natural surroundings and wildlife (e.g. zebras, donkeys, capybara, etc.!) or in the main facility playing pool, shuffleboard, or watching college football on several large TVs throughout the property. The staff was extremely friendly and accomodating. You will feel like time slows down while you are there and enjoy being in the moment. Tip: Y.O. is about 45-60 minutes away from restaurants. Either build that in to your plans, or inquire about their meal plan. Book activities in advance as there is plenty to do on the ranch. They recently rebuilt a very nice swimming pool that would be ideal for those visiting in the warmer part of the year.
