Top Nemuri-neko Hotel Reviews
Nikko Hoshinoyado
8/10 Good
"The food is very good and well presented. However in-room amenities are minimal, same for the onsen (men) - no cotton ear-buds - and the hand towels do not smell clean."
Hotel Casual Euro
10/10 Excellent
"As many comments suggest, it’s a looooong walk up a very steep hill. I personally loved it. The private outdoor onsen was spectacular (just cover up on your way in and out of the tub and you’ll be fine) and the Japanese style room with the floor bad was the comfiest sleep I’ve had on my 21 day trip! If you’re looking for something out of town, a little more quiet with charm I’d choose this location! My only complaint is that you need to hand your key over every time you go out. The staff aren’t always at the desk to give it back. So if you’ve just gotten done a long day in the mountains and the climbed that hill up to the hotel… a little wait for the key feels like forever."
Fairfield by Marriott Tochigi Nikko
10/10 Excellent
"New hotel, clean and tastedul, well designed, helpful staff. Everything was perfect. A bit away from the main town, but there is a free shuttle."
Nikko Station Hotel II bankan
10/10 Excellent
"Very good location 3 mins from the station. Nice deep soaking tub, perfect after I long day looking at waterfalls."
Nikko Station Hotel Classic
10/10 Excellent
"The hotel was a perfdct location, very comfortable and clean."
Rakuten STAY Nikko Hoden
10/10 Excellent
"Our room was very spacious and kitchen was very well equipped. Loved our own "private onsen" in the room, we've used it every day. Only minor issue and delay in the check-in process once we were in the room as it was not able to confirm our identity and it was calling without any answer but it did work out in the end."
Joshuya Ryokan
10/10 Excellent
"Excellent food, convenient location, and attentive staff; we thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay at this century-old inn! We chose Joshuya for an authentic ryokan experience. Stay here for a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere, home-style Japanese meals shared with guests, excellent public hot spring, and a location within walking distance of major historical sites and Tobu Nikko Station. If you want conventional beds, private bathrooms, or the flexibility to come and go whenever you please, look elsewhere. A dedicated fifth-generation owner runs this small operation, preparing meals daily. The inn is a time capsule showing its age, but our living spaces, futons, towels, and yukata were very clean. Amenities include AC, a fridge, Wi-Fi, and toiletries. You only need a change of clothes! All six meals were fantastic, and the low-mineral hot spring left our skin remarkably smooth! While Joshuya offers an authentic immersion into Japanese hospitality, travelers should note that this property leans heavily into a rustic, historic style rather than modern convenience. Guests should embrace aging facilities, such as shared external washrooms, natural ventilation in common areas, and vintage architecture, along with customs like mandatory shoe removal at the entryway, meal schedules, and curfew hours. Overall, we were deeply impressed by their attentiveness. Warmth and tradition outshine luxury here! We hope this historic inn continues to thrive and look forward to returning!"
Nikko Kanaya Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"It is a classic hotel but the annex building is fully renovated and beautiful. The room was comfortable with nice amenities. It was so calm and peaceful. I loved the tea set they provided and enjoyed the room overlooking the garden outside. Had very comfortable beds. Staff was nice and welcoming. Breakfast was nice too. The only downside was lack of dinner options in the area. We did a room service one night and had their famous curry… which was alright but expensive. We also had a meal at Meiji no Yakata nearby which was great. I think most restaurants were closed for dinner on weekdays though. There was a really good yuba place for lunch closed to the hotel."
The Ritz-Carlton, Nikko
10/10 Excellent
"Walking distance to lake, waterfall, and national park. Relaxing and serene atmosphere."
