It has roaches the sofa was supposed to be used as a pull out bed but it was broke and the mattress you could feel the coils coming through so therefore my family members had to sleep in the chair and on top of the couch. It was very uncomfortable, they had so many rules of what they would charge if the towels had makeup on them but the towel I grab to use had makeup on it before I used it, I know this place is apart of New Orleans history but it needs to be updated. The pool had leaves in it due to a tree hanging directly over it which is not good because who wants to swim with the leave. It was truly a waste of money.

The Jean Lafitte House website is utterly deceptive. We self-checked-in to our ‘loft apartment’ just after 5pm on a Friday. No staff on the premises. Our third-floor walkup apartment (the biggest one they offer) was dark, dingy, and extremely dirty. The furniture was shabby and there was a cheap rug permanently curled near the kitchen that posed a tripping hazard. Photos on the website for this apartment are staged with extra pillows and flash to give it light. The floors were sticky and the rugs not vacuumed. In the main living space, one overhead light was nowhere near enough to read or work. We were put off enough to leave and seek another hotel. Do NOT stay at Lafitte!! It has none of the charm of New Orleans that we were expecting.

The hotel had a lot of character, but certain things were in need of upgrading/revamping - pool/pool area and steps were tatty. TV and a socket not working. I stayed for 8 nights and the room wasnt touched during that time.

Well, if we decide to come back to New Orleans again, this is a place I would not stay at because of the climbing of the stairs is not said in the article where I booked I have a plate in my knee and had trouble walking up and down the steps going to the place and to the bedroom very disappointed but next time I’ll call instead of book online to make sure that what I have is what I want

Great Place to stay!
We really liked the accommodations. Wasn't sure upon arrival but once inside we loved it. Very quaint New Orleans. Will stay again but will book parking in advance as they only have 5 parking spots but we got lucky and was able to park across the street. Very convenient to walk the French Quarter.

Piece of history
The hotel is a great historic place. It needs a lot of restoration done. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately the rooms we rented were very dirty and it took away from the overall experience.

We liked the neighborhood's proximity to all the clubs on the French Quarter, yet it's distance to insulate from noise. It is a nice courtyard-style. The rooms were clean and spacious for a historical building and we had a kitchen in our unit. Our only complain was that the blinds on the door didn't cover the window properly and would allow a person to easily view inside the room. We bought some cheap black-out panels from Macy's and fixed this. (Which also fixed the ambient light problem as we are "dark" sleepers.) The day we were checking out a man came to replace that blind. I would stay here again, paid parking is one block away, very convenient. We didn't get a chance to use the pool, the weather was a bit chilly.

Good value. Great proximity to the French Quarter. Very walkable. I only wish the blinds covered the windows fully so that I wasn’t visible from the outside.

This hotel is unique. It still had the old charm but had upgrades. If you like historical this is the place. Its a very quiet hotel. Definitely will be staying here again. It was a short walk to everything.

great place to stay for the value, walking distance to the French Quarter without staying in the French Quarter. Room had big bed with 4 pillows, bathroom had 2 pedestal lavatory, large tub shower. Sitting room, large couch, kitchenette & 2 TV

We enjoyed our stay. The bed in the loft area as well as pull out couches were very hard. The loft area was also really hot and stuffy, we needed up not staying up there at all and using the pullout couch (not much better). The bed in the main bedroom was comfortable. The windows leaked during rain and the stairs going up to the room are leaning some making it interesting carrying up luggage. Note there is not an elevator! We really enjoyed the balcony and over feel of the room and guesthouse in general! Will be back, but now we are aware of the loft not being real useable and to bring an air mattress or it would be ok for kids.

I was initially really concerned when we arrived at this property. I arrived a bit early and the doors were locked and the area had quite a few homeless people laid out and their paid parking area wasn’t well kept and had an old broke down vehicle inside but because of how close it was to the French quarters, I gave it a chance and I’m so glad that I did! The staff was so nice and just amazing from the front desk to maintenance! The lock helps with safety from the outside. The room was perfect. Once you get in, you forget about the outside. It had a beautiful charm. Which is what made me book it in the first place. However, the pictures don’t do the Rooms justice. We had the two bedroom and it’s like a mini apartment. We stayed in room 3. The only issue was the microwave was left dirty. I had to clean it. And the door knob on the room was a bit tricky. This will still be my go to for every trip I make there in the future. We were able to walk everywhere we went as it’s only 2 blocks from Decatur street. Just the perfect location! Maybe u gotta love the New Orleans charm… it’s no Hilton but why would you go to New Orleans and stay at a Hilton!?! So Glad I gave this place a chance! It served our large group of 7 perfectly!

Wonderful location
Wonderful location, at the edge of the French quarter; quiet neighborhood; trees lined street, homes from the 1800's. Nice staff, clean rooms. We really liked #6, a 2 bedroom, 1&1/2 bath will a loft 2nd bedroom. Staff are helpful, but unfortunately we picked a week when staffing was inconsistent and no one was answering the hotel phone number. Also the pool was lovely.

Fees were ridiculous
The place was great but the fees were ridiculous, I am on the road at least 40 nights a year never have a been charged a $35 early check in fee, one hour early mind you. There was roughly only one other guest, so the room was certainly ready. One car in their parking lot and they still charged me a $25 dollar parking fee. Ridiculous fees lead to no return business. I left something in my room and didn’t get any phone call to see if I would like it back. Not good New Orleans

Our room exceeded our expectations. It was actually a suite with a kitchen/dining area, living room area, separate bedroom and nice bathroom. There was a coffee pot in the kitchen with complimentary coffee to brew. There was a TV in the living area and the bedroom. The suite was very clean and the bed extremely comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was no food served onsite, but there were plenty of places to eat within easy walking distance. We would definitely stay there again. Just a caution that there is no elevator so if you have a room second floor or above you will have to climb stairs.

Awesome place and great location.
This was an awesome spot for the price. We booked the 2 bedroom suite and it was perfect for 7 of us. Kitchen, living area, pullout couch, 2 bathrooms. Beautiful porch with a lovely view of Esplanade. Perfect location, within walking distance of everything. Staff was great, they let us leave our bags after we checked out while we wandered around some more. Only downfall was that the pool was out of order, but would definitely stay again!

Room was great and the location perfect for the parade we came to see. My only complaint is we should have been told about having to reserve their parking. I even had a call from them the week before our stay and parking reservations were not mentioned. It worked out ok, but it was just a major detail they need to mention.
